Information You Choose to Send
Queries Entered in Search Tools
A name, place, or other term entered into a search box is transmitted to the third-party provider that operates the tool. Gallia County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own system. The provider's privacy terms govern its receipt and processing of the query.
Emails and Contact Messages
If you email us or submit a contact message, we retain the information needed to read the request and send a reply. We do not share the message outside our organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal order.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Ordinary server, analytics, and advertising systems can receive technical details when a page loads. Those details may include:
- The internet protocol address associated with the request
- The browser name and version
- The device category and operating system
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time of the visit
Cookies and Browser Controls
Cookies help measure how visitors move through the site and may support analytics or advertising functions. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Some tools or page features may respond differently when cookies are disabled.
Reasons We Process Information
Collected information is used for a limited set of operating and service purposes:
- Keeping pages available, stable, and responsive
- Sending a search request to the selected partner tool
- Learning which Gallia release-record pages visitors use
- Finding errors, abuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect broad interests
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office, ODRC, courts, federal locators, other government portals, or outside search tools. Official record access under Ohio Revised Code 149.43 is handled by the public office, not by this site's privacy notice. Once you follow an outbound link, the destination's own policy and terms control its data practices.
Advertising partners may use their systems to observe activity across different sites and select interest-based ads. That tracking takes place through the partner's technology rather than a Gallia County Released Inmates records database.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be provided or transmitted to:
- Search partners that must process a submitted query
- Analytics services used to measure site traffic
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order
Reasonable Security Measures
We use standard safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No internet connection, hosted service, or storage system can be guaranteed breach-proof. The security commitment is one of reasonable care, not an assurance that an incident is impossible.
Visitors Must Be Adults
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent personal data, use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of what we hold, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information associated with you
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate
- Erase personal information we are permitted to delete
- Stop or opt out of certain processing where that right applies
Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may revise this notice as site practices, vendors, or legal duties change. A new version takes effect when it is posted, and its effective date will be updated with the revision.
